The group would be based in the Towers Hotel, Glenbeigh, Iveragh Peninsua, Co Kerry. Glenbeigh is a large village ideally located on north side of the Iveragh peninsula which by common consensus has a greater selection of hill/mountain walking than anywhere else in the country, including the Magillycuddy Reeks (which has Ireland's highest mountains). Glenbeagh has plenty going on with a few local bars, traditional music and shops. There is a beach about 15 minutes walk from the hotel with great views northwards towards the Dingle peninsula.
Co Kerry - Ireland's most dramatic scenery
The walks will offer fantastic coastal scenery and spectacular views of the world famous Lakes of Killarney. Depending on interest, a selection of Grade 2 and Grade 3 walks will be available on 5 of the 6 days.
Grade 2 walks will be planned to limit ascents to 400 - 450m max, some of the walks following sections of the Kerry Way. Terrain underfoot is generally good, with only a handful of more difficult sections in more remote areas.
Grade 3 walks will be planned for ascents of 600 to 1000m, with the option of a more challenging walks in and around the Magillicuddy Reeks and Ireland's highest peak, Carrantouill.
The area offers huge interest, diversity and the appropriate degree of challenge for both easier and more strenuous walking.
